Wonderful large-scale Howard & Sons armchair, circa 1890, with original down filled back.

This rare model combines the classic 'Grafton' shape with the finest carved mahogany 'Ramsden' pattern legs. 

The addition of these super expensive legs would have been part of a custom order, which is also suggested by the seat rails incorporating parrot heads and the feathered legs with ball-and-claw feet. 

This chair would have been double the price of the standard chairs in Howard's original trade price list.
